Three steps to your Linux desktop.
Mac quick start
- Download TryOmarchy.dmg and open it.
- Drag Try Omarchy to Applications, then open it.
- Start Omarchy and follow the account setup. The first launch takes longer while it prepares Linux.
Windows quick start
- Download TryOmarchy.exe and open it.
- Choose where to store Omarchy. If prompted, allow Windows Hypervisor Platform, restart, and reopen the app.
- Let setup download Linux, then choose an instant trial account or create your own.
Linux quick start
- Download TryOmarchy.flatpakref and open it with your software center, then choose Install.
- Open Try Omarchy from your app menu and choose Try it now.
- Setup downloads Omarchy and starts it with a trial account. The username and password are both omarchy.
Before you jump in.
Does this replace my operating system?
No. Omarchy runs in a virtual machine inside an app, on macOS, Windows or Linux. There is no repartitioning or dual boot. Windows setup may enable its virtualization feature and ask for a restart.
Is this the full Omarchy desktop?
Yes. You get the Omarchy desktop, themes, and Linux apps. Hardware support and host integration differ between Mac, Windows and Linux. Performance depends on your computer; video decoding on Mac is currently CPU-only.
Will my Linux files stay between sessions?
Yes, when using a persistent VM. Windows keeps the Linux disk in the folder you chose during setup, and Linux keeps it with the app unless you choose another folder. Mac saves changes by default; disposable mode discards them when you close the app.
